Description
Hematite was known as the “blood stone” to the greeks. Although it appears to be black, when it gets struck or damaged it takes on a reddish hue, hence the name. Once polished, it takes on a silver sheen, and was traditionally used as a mirror, or sold as a “black diamond.”
