Ukiyo-e Square Hanko

From: ¥5,750

Ukiyo-e, which means “images of the floating world,” is the name for a style of painting that was popular in Japan, particularly during the Meiji era (1800-1910).

These playful square Hanko incorporate ukiyo-e designs with your identity, giving a very unique way to make your mark.

There are three designs, including Katsushika Hokusai’s wave, a portrait of a Geisha, and a Noh Artist.

Due to the complexity of the images, this product is only available in 21mm and 24mm sizes, carved out of boxwood (Tsuge). The result is a bold, clean mark with plenty of detail.

Because it is square, these seals look like Rakkan-in: special hanko for artists and calligraphers. Whether you sign with your given name, or pen name, or both, your Rakkan-in imbues your work with your artist spirit. Our hand-carved Rakkan-in can be found here, and this design, carved from boxwood, is precision-carved by a computer.
