Description
Square hanko are not often used for regular personal use in Japan, but they do have special uses.
Square seals, also commonly known as a chop, are used by artists and calligraphers to mark their work. Whether you sign with your given name, or pen name, or both, your mark imbues your work with your artist spirit.
In addition to artists, square hanko are also often used by businesses and organizations. Known as shikaku-in, they create a solid, distinct imprint on the page, and are often used to mark certificates or other official documents.
