This is a lacquered pair of chopsticks, beautiful and practical. Handmade with love in Tohoku, the region recovering from the 2011 Earthquake and Tsunami.
Its dotted motif is produced using a special technique called the Tsugaru Nanako-nuri, where seeds are sprinkled over the chopsticks during the lacquering process and later scraped off.
These chopsticks are inlaid with small pieces of abalone shell for a subtle elegance.
This is a lacquered pair of chopsticks, beautiful and practical.
The bubbly motif is produced through a special technique called Tsugaru Nanako-nuri, where rapeseed is sprinkled over the chopsticks during the lacquering process. When the seeds are later scraped off, the circular impressions are left, producing its signature motif.
The pattern is sometimes said to resemble fish roe.
Inlaid with pieces of abalone shell to give it that beautiful, subtle shine when the chopsticks catch the light.
