After Perry arrived on the Kurofune in the late Edo period and brought paint along with various items, the existence of paint brushes became widespread.

This Nurigara Brush is used for painting with oil-based/Mercury paint, varnish, etc. About 70% of the total brushwork of the Edo period were done with this brush. This high quality wide brush is made of horsehair (tail, body, leg) and wool are used as hair materials.

New paints and brushes for new applications are well developed while adhering to traditional techniques.
